Competition Guidelines 2009 Li’l Miss Iowa Interview There will be a 6 minute interview with the contestant seated before the Panel of judges who will evaluate her ability to express herself and talk about the things that are important to her. The interview will account for 30% of the total score. Talent The talent portion of the competition is the performance of music, drama, art, dance, baton, or acrobatics and is limited to a maximum of two (2) minutes. The talent will account for 40% of the total points. Casual Wear The contestant will model a sportswear or casual outfit that expresses her interests and personality. She will be evaluated on her ability to model the outfit and her on-stage personality. This accounts for 10% of the total points. Party Dress The contestant will model a party dress that could be worn to a school function, church, or party. She will be judged on her ability to model the dress and how well it fits her personality, not the dress itself. Typical pageant dresses with excessive frills are not permitted. This accounts for 15% of the total points. On-Stage Question There will be one on-stage question that will be formulated from the contestant resume. She will be evaluated on her ability to answer the question, her ability to communicate and her on-stage personality. This accounts for 5% of the total points. The contestant with the highest number of total points shall be named Li’l Miss Iowa. Li’l Miss contestants must be citizens of the United States of America, residents of the State of Iowa and between the ages for 6 and 9 years old by June 1, 2009. Li’l Miss Iowa may not compete for or hold any other pageant titles during her year of service. The contestant named Li’l Miss Iowa will make personal appearances as arranged by the Miss Iowa Youth Program staff throughout her year of service.
