leaders. Princesses will take the stage to perform a production
number during the Miss Iowa/Miss Iowa’s Outstanding Teen state
pageant, have fun at pageant events with the contestants and learn
the importance of education, service, success and style from young
female leaders in Iowa!

Miss Iowa Princess Camp Information
DEADLINE TO REGISTER AND BE RECOGNIZED IN THE MISS IOWA PROGRAM IS
APR 1, 2019.
WHO CAN BE A PRINCESS?
Princesses must be at least 5 years of age and no older
than 12 by the Miss Iowa competition held in June. State Board
approval is required for interested participants outside the
recommended age range.
WHEN IS PRINCESS CAMP?
Princess Camp will begin Wednesday June 12 and ends Saturday June 15th. The daytime
portion of camp will be held Wednesday 6/12 8AM-Noon, Thursday 6/13 8AM-Noon, Friday 6/14
8AM-Noon, Saturday 6/15 8AM-Noon. Princess Camp will continue in the evenings with VIP
seats at Miss Iowa preliminary and final competitions Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Princesses will also take the stage each night for a special Princess Camp production number.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF MISS IOWA
REPRESENTATIVES
Miss Iowa and Miss Iowa’s Outstanding Teen contestants
will have several opportunities to mentor Princesses during Miss
Iowa week. Princesses will be mentored in the attributes of a future
Miss America, which include appearance when in public, manners,
kindness, and service to others and her community.
APPLICATION
To make the most of your Princess Camp experience,
Princesses should complete and submit the entry forms immediately.
Deadline for entry is Apr 1, 2019.
PRINCESS CAMP FEE
The fee is $300 for the first princess and $280 for
additional princesses from the same family. Princesses returning to
Miss Iowa Princess Camp from a prior year and using the same crown
may pay a fee of $250. The fees may be paid by the family or the
applicant may obtain a sponsorship from businesses, family, friends,
or a combination of all three.
PROGRAM BOOK/WEBSITE PHOTO REQUIREMENTS
Each Princess must submit a .jpeg photo to, princess@missiowa.com
by May 1, 2019. The photo should be vertical and in sharp focus.
High resolution of 300 dpi is needed for best reproduction quality.
(A school photo will work.) Keep the hair off the face so it does
not hide it or cast shadows on it. Do not cover the face with hair,
hands, jewelry or clothing. The Princess should be looking forward
and the full head must be shown. Princess Camp participants will be
featured in the Miss Iowa Program Book. Please include the name of
the Princess exactly as it should appear in the program book. The
photo, all forms and the entry fee must be submitted by the deadline
of May 1, 2019, to appear in the program book.
DRESS REQUIREMENTS AND ACTIVITIES
For the day camp portion of Princess Camp, princesses
must wear sneakers or other closed-toe shoes along with outfit of
choice (Please send a sweatshirt in case of cold rooms). For
Thursday and Friday evenings, princesses will wear their official
Princess Camp t-shirt (provided) which will be a light blue/teal
color along with white shorts, pants or skirts (please have them
wear shorts under skirt) and sneakers. Saturday night, princesses
should wear a white dress.
PROGRAM BOOK AD SALES
Princesses are encouraged to sell at least one page of ads in the Miss Iowa Program book. Each Princess selling at least two pages of ads will receive two complimentary tickets to the Miss Iowa Preliminaries Competition on Thursday, June 13 (for the Princess' parents, family, or friends). GRAND PRIZE: The Princess selling the most ad sales pages* will receive two free SEASON TICKETS to the Miss Iowa/Iowa’s Outstanding Teen Pageant (for the Princess' parents, family, or friends), two free Miss Iowa Commemorative Program Books, AND NEW THIS YEAR, a classroom visit from Miss Iowa 2018!
*A minimum of three (3) pages must be sold to qualify.
CROWN AND T-SHIRTS
The Miss Iowa Princess Crown is the official MAOTeen
Princess Crown, modeled after the official Miss America's
Outstanding Teen Crown. The
crown is not a toy and should be handled with care. It may be worn
during official appearances as a Miss Iowa Princess. If the crown is
damaged, it is the responsibility of the Princess and her family to
replace it at a cost of $55, plus shipping. One t-shirt will be
provided to each Princess. Additional t-shirts may be purchased at
$15 each.
ACCOMMODATIONS, TRANSPORTATION AND MEALS
All Miss Iowa Princesses’ family and/or friends are
responsible for their housing, transportation, and meals during
their stay in Davenport. Many princess campers’ families choose to
stay at the Miss Iowa Host Hotel. The Best Western Steeplegate is
our 2018 host hotel. Please be sure to mention Miss Iowa
Princess Camp when booking rooms for a discounted rate. Hotel
booking information to follow.
BACKSTAGE GENERAL RULES
No one is permitted backstage at any time, except
security, stage personnel, and pageant officials.
MISS IOWA COMPETITION
A VIP section of seats for the Princesses will be
reserved at the Miss Iowa/Miss Iowa’s Outstanding Teen Pageant on
6/13, 6/14 & 6/15. The Princess Camp Program Coordinator and
additional pageant staff or assistants will be seated with and
supervise the Princesses at each competition. Parents, family and
friends will need to purchase tickets to Miss Iowa separately. Each
Princess will need at least one adult present at the pageants.
Ticket forms and payment instructions will be sent out at a later
date.
